Tragic Shreveport Shooting Leaves Mother Dead, Father Critical, Child Miraculously Unharmed in Car
Shreveport, Louisiana — What began as a routine call about a car crash quickly turned into one of the most heartbreaking scenes Shreveport police have encountered this year. Around 4:00 p.m. on Sunday, November 2, officers were dispatched to the intersection of Claiborne Avenue and Queens Highway, after witnesses reported a vehicle stopped in the middle of the road, its engine still running but not moving.
When first responders approached the gray Nissan Altima, they expected to find accident victims. Instead, they found the grim aftermath of a shooting. Inside the car were two adults — a man and a woman — both suffering from multiple gunshot wounds. Between them in the backseat sat a young child, visibly shaken but miraculously unharmed.
The woman, later identified as 26-year-old Armoni Anderson, known affectionately by friends as Karlei Raí, had been struck by bullets in the upper body. She was still alive when officers reached her but was rapidly losing consciousness. Paramedics pulled her from the passenger seat and performed life-saving measures as they rushed her to Ochsner LSU Health Shreveport, but despite their efforts, she was later pronounced dead at the hospital.
The man, whose name police have not yet released, was also critically injured. He remains in critical condition, fighting for his life under constant medical care. The young child, estimated to be around three or four years old, was physically unharmed — a small miracle amid a scene marked by chaos, shattered glass, and tragedy.
According to early reports, the car appeared to have crashed shortly after the gunfire erupted. Tire marks and debris at the scene suggested that the driver may have lost control after the shots were fired, causing the vehicle to come to rest at the busy intersection. Detectives are still trying to determine whether the shooting happened inside the car or came from someone outside the vehicle.
Authorities have not confirmed whether Armoni and the injured man were romantically involved or if their relationship played a role in the shooting. However, investigators from the Shreveport Police Department’s Violent Crimes Unit have said the case appears to be domestic-related, though they are not ruling out other possibilities.
Detectives are now reviewing surveillance footage from nearby businesses and traffic cameras, hoping to piece together the moments leading up to the shooting. Forensic teams spent hours collecting shell casings and other evidence from the roadway as traffic was diverted around the intersection.
Police have not yet named any suspects or made arrests, and they are urging anyone with information to come forward. “This is an active investigation, and every tip matters,” a department spokesperson said Sunday evening. “A child has lost their mother, and we owe it to that family to find out what happened.”
Friends of Armoni Anderson have taken to social media to share their grief, describing her as a loving mother, a loyal friend, and someone whose laughter could brighten any room. “She was the kind of person who cared deeply about everyone,” one friend wrote. “She didn’t deserve this.”
As the investigation continues, Shreveport residents have left flowers and candles near the intersection where the car came to rest. The small memorial now stands as a symbol of both sorrow and resilience — a reminder of how fragile life can be and how violence can change everything in an instant.
For now, one child’s life was spared, but their world has been forever changed. The community waits anxiously for answers, for justice, and for peace in the wake of Armoni Anderson’s tragic passing.
