Tragedy on Claiborne Avenue: Mother Armonii Anderson Passes in Shreveport Shooting and Crash
Shreveport, Louisiana — What began as an ordinary Sunday afternoon in Shreveport turned into a heartbreaking scene at the intersection of Claiborne Avenue and Queens Highway, where police found a young mother lifeless and her child miraculously unharmed.
Around 4:17 p.m., emergency dispatchers received multiple calls reporting a crash involving a silver Nissan Altima that had veered off the road and collided near the busy intersection. When officers arrived, they were met with a scene that spoke of violence and panic — shattered glass, a crumpled front end, and two adults slumped over in the front seats.
In the backseat sat a small child, still strapped into a safety seat, covered in glass and blood but without a single injury. Officers immediately pulled the child from the car and handed them to paramedics as they began assessing the adults in the front.
The woman, later identified as Armonii Anderson, 26, had suffered multiple gunshot wounds and was unresponsive when first responders reached her. She was rushed to Ochsner LSU Health Shreveport, where doctors tried to revive her, but despite their efforts, she was pronounced dead shortly after arrival.
The man in the driver’s seat, whose name has not been released by police, was also struck by gunfire. He was taken to the same hospital in serious condition but has since been reported as stable and is cooperating with investigators.
Authorities believe the shooting happened inside the moving vehicle, sparking chaos that ended with the crash. “It appears to have been a domestic situation that escalated into gunfire,” said a Shreveport Police Department spokesperson. “At this point, we are still determining who fired the shots, how many rounds were exchanged, and what led to the initial confrontation.”
Detectives spent hours at the scene, marking bullet casings, photographing the vehicle, and collecting evidence from the roadway. Surveillance cameras from nearby businesses are being reviewed in hopes of clarifying what occurred in the moments before the collision.
Neighbors in the area say they heard the crash followed by shouting, then the sound of sirens. “It was chaos,” said James Porter, who lives near the intersection. “When we saw the police and all the glass on the ground, we knew something bad had happened.”
Friends and family have since identified Armonii Anderson not only as a daughter and sister but also as a devoted mother. Known affectionately as “Karlei Raí” by those closest to her, she was described as someone who brought laughter and warmth wherever she went.
“She had a beautiful spirit,” said Tanesha Williams, a family friend. “She was one of those people who loved hard and cared deeply for everyone around her — especially her baby.”
The image of her child, unharmed but surrounded by the aftermath of the tragedy, has deeply shaken the Shreveport community. Local residents have begun leaving flowers and candles at the site where the Nissan came to rest, turning the corner into an impromptu memorial.
Police have not announced any arrests or charges but confirmed that the surviving male occupant remains under investigation. They continue to piece together evidence and are waiting for ballistics and forensic results to clarify exactly how the shooting unfolded.
Authorities have emphasized that no ongoing threat exists to the public, calling the event an isolated domestic incident.
As the investigation continues, family and friends are left to mourn a young mother whose life ended far too soon — a woman remembered for her strength, her kindness, and the love she carried for her child.
“Her smile could light up a room,” said Williams. “She was full of love and life, and she deserved so much more.”
For now, the streets of Claiborne Avenue bear the marks of a tragedy that claimed Armonii “Karlei Raí” Anderson’s life — and a community that will not forget her name.
