Brazoria County, Disabled Child Attacked by Teachers at Wild Peach Elementary Sparks Outrage
BRAZORIA COUNTY — A deeply disturbing incident at Wild Peach Elementary has left the Brazoria County community reeling after security footage captured a five-year-old non-verbal autistic student being violently mishandled by two teachers on the same day. The victim, whose mother is Guadalupe Rodriguez, suffered a fractured and sprained ankle as a result of the assaults, which took place on October 30. Authorities confirmed that both teachers involved — identified as special education instructor Britney Henshaw and teacher Sydney Madill — were terminated immediately following the release of the surveillance video.
The footage, recorded inside the special education classroom, showed every horrifying moment. In the morning hours, Henshaw was seen aggressively throwing the young child to the floor not once, but twice, within a span of less than an hour. Each fall caused visible distress to the child, who struggled to stand or communicate pain due to his condition. Hours later, a separate video captured Madill attempting to force the boy to walk by kicking at his injured leg. The second act compounded the damage already inflicted, and the boy’s distress went entirely ignored by surrounding staff.
That afternoon, when the child returned home, his mother immediately noticed him limping and crying in discomfort. Alarmed, Rodriguez rushed her son to an urgent care clinic, where doctors confirmed that he had sustained a fractured and sprained ankle. Shock quickly turned to fury as she demanded answers from the school the next morning. Refusing to leave without an explanation, she was eventually permitted to review the surveillance footage, where she witnessed, frame by frame, the moments her son was mistreated by those entrusted with his care.
According to Rodriguez, the school’s response, though swift in firing both teachers, was not enough. “Termination is not justice,” she told reporters. “My son was hurt, terrified, and ignored. He deserves real accountability.” The case has since been referred to the Brazoria County District Attorney’s Office for review, and local advocates for children with disabilities have called for criminal charges and stronger protections for non-verbal students.
The Brazoria County Sheriff’s Office confirmed that they are aware of the case and have been in contact with the district attorney as part of the ongoing investigation. Parents across the district have expressed outrage, demanding transparency, accountability, and immediate reforms in how special needs classrooms are monitored and managed. Many have shared concerns that similar incidents could go unnoticed without thorough surveillance and mandatory reporting.
As for Rodriguez’s son, he has not returned to Wild Peach Elementary and remains traumatized by the experience. His family is pursuing counseling and considering legal action against the district. What began as a normal school day for a vulnerable child ended in pain and fear — a reality that continues to reverberate through the community as Brazoria County demands justice, compassion, and lasting change.
