Baltimore Police Investigating Mass Shooting at Spaulding and Queensberry Avenues Leaving Six People Injured

Baltimore authorities are investigating a mass shooting that took place Saturday night, leaving one man dead and five others wounded, including a young child. The incident has left the community reeling and sparked renewed calls for stronger measures to address gun-related violence in the city.

Police reported that the shooting occurred at approximately 8:46 p.m. on August 9 at the intersection of Spaulding and Queensberry Avenues. Officers arrived to find six victims with gunshot wounds — four men and two women. Emergency personnel quickly transported all injured individuals to nearby hospitals for treatment.

Among the injured was a 5-year-old child, whose condition has not been disclosed. Authorities confirmed that one of the adult male victims succumbed to his injuries at the hospital. The other five victims are currently receiving medical care, and their conditions vary from stable to critical.

Investigators spent several hours at the scene, cordoning off the area to collect evidence and document the surroundings. Police combed the intersection for shell casings, photographed damage, and interviewed witnesses in hopes of piecing together the events that led to the tragedy.

According to preliminary findings, multiple gunshots were fired in what authorities believe may have been a targeted attack, though they have not ruled out other possibilities. Police have not released information on any potential suspects, and no arrests have been made at this time.

Residents living near Spaulding and Queensberry Avenues described hearing a rapid succession of gunshots, followed by chaos as people ran for safety. Some neighbors rushed to help the injured before emergency responders arrived, while others called 911 to report the shooting.

The incident has heightened concerns about public safety in Baltimore, particularly in neighborhoods already struggling with violence. Local leaders have urged the community to come forward with any information that might aid the investigation, stressing the importance of breaking the cycle of retaliation and fear.

Police are reviewing surveillance footage from nearby homes and businesses to identify any vehicles or individuals linked to the shooting. Authorities are also appealing to residents who may have witnessed the events or have video recordings to share these with investigators.

Community advocates have planned vigils and support gatherings for the victims and their families. Local organizations are also mobilizing resources to offer counseling and trauma assistance to those affected, especially children who may have witnessed the violence.

Baltimore police continue to urge anyone with knowledge of the shooting to contact their tip line or CrimeStoppers. Investigators hope that community cooperation will be key in apprehending those responsible and preventing further tragedies in the city.
