Chicago – A 35-year-old man was shot by police Thursday after allegedly fleeing officers while armed with a handgun on the city’s South Side, authorities confirmed. The incident occurred in the 0-100 block of West 111th Place in the Roseland neighborhood, sparking an immediate police response.
According to Chicago Police Department reports, officers attempted to stop the man in connection with a recent string of armed robberies. When approached, he allegedly refused orders to drop his weapon and began running from the officers.
During the pursuit, one officer discharged their firearm, striking the suspect in the leg. Emergency medical personnel responded quickly, transporting the man to the University of Chicago Medical Center, where he was listed in serious but stable condition.
